What is a ventilated facade and what benefits it provides?

The RVF is a technical solution adopted in the building that is to create an outer "smart" for any type of building or building. This "skin" guarantees, through a cushion of air maintained between the external facade and the walls of the building, thermal comfort thus reducing operating costs.

In fact an external façade of this type, also called courtain wall, allows two things that seem irreconcilable: the breathability of the building wall and at the same time protects the latter from rainwater, in substance from rain and from other weathering.

This is thanks to the outer coating which is mounted on a metal frame, directly set against the walls of the building, thus preserving the stable from external atmospheric agents and forming a useful air gap.

This gap is to be considered as a ventilation chamber connected to the outside through the ventilation ports that allow the passage of air creates a natural ventilation process known by the name of "chimney effect".

This effect, due to the difference of temperature between the cavity and the external environment, an air flow that moves areando the outer wall of the building eliminates any condensation that may occur between the inside and the outside of an environment.

It can also increase the insulating effect, both thermal and acoustic, placing inside the cavity and adhering to the building, a layer of insulating material that ultimately insulates and isolates the construction. The advantages in terms of thermal protection and energy saving are net.

During the winter, heat is lost from perimeter walls, much more slowly than under normal conditions of exposure and failing condensation will prevent mold on the walls. Instead you create in the summer months as a "heat shield" capable of maintaining lower the internal temperature of the houses that is not so affected by the heat, on the outside, which penetrates difficult.

In short, the courtain wall is a solution from the undoubted benefits in terms of energy and also an alternative way to renovate buildings, although not recently built, renewing the aesthetics and architecture.
