Netbooks and tablets: pros and cons for use as a laptop

The current progress of the consumer market of laptops is pushing consumers to the tablet or tablets with touch screen of the iPad is now the most famous interpreter.

The increase in tablet brings a contraction in the netbook market ie laptops small, compact size.

Netbooks are different from regular laptops because they are smaller and therefore more portable and lightweight, with screen size ranging from 9 to 11 inches.

Just to meet this growing audience, Microsoft is developing a Windows 8 optimized for tablets and also Google continues to push its Android that now is not just an operating system for smartphones but can also be used on typical computers.

The Intel is pushing the production of processors for tablets trying to compete with ARM which currently produces the best processors for mobile devices.

So, the question now is: "I am the best tablet or the netwbook?"

To answer this question one must understand what needs to cover these two types of computers.

To begin with, netbooks are not dying, is simply the word netbook that went out of fashion.

The small portable computers today are called by the producers with names such as Ultrabooks or simply Minicomputers and who knows how they will call in the future.

Staying impartial on the matter, we see why a mini PC is better than a tablet and, conversely, why should you prefer an iPad or a tablet other than the classic compact laptop with keyboard.

1) Netbooks are cheaper, cost less and last longer.

A laptop can cost from 300 to 600 euro, which is the price of the iPad.

On a netbook you can install Windows or Linux and you can write, and are more resistant, even if out of fashion, they can always be updated to keep pace with the times.

Every year comes the new version of iPad, Samsung Galaxy or other models that make old and almost obsolete the current one that maybe you can not update because it went out of production (for example, those who had the iPad 1 could now suffer a complex inferiority of the iPad 2 while those who had bought an Android tablet a year ago may be unable to upgrade to the new version).

Conversely, netbook with Windows or, better yet, with Linux Ubuntu (you can now also install Android on a netbook) can always be updated, free (if Linux) for a fee (if Windows) without problems.

2) The touchscreen tablets have a better screen than the netbook so they are more suitable for entertainment, movie watching, to see and edit photos, to play.

If you just want a computer to go on Facebook, on Twitter and watch movies, the tablet is definitely the best choice to make.

We can put you on the couch or in bed, slide your finger on the screen and surf the Internet or interact with various applications.

So if you are consumers of the internet and applications, wins the tablet but if you want to create something, you need a computer.

The touchscreen keyboard is terrible if you are working writing.

3) From what has been said in the previous paragraph, since the screen is better, but the graphics quality is of higher quality (unless you bought a laptop from 1000 Euro) then we say that a tablet is also perfect for reading.

However, if you do not like the idea of reading electronic books on a screen, this time for the tablet is lost.

4) Many netbooks are equipped with the Intel Atom processor that is not the best while the tablet is and will be equipped with ARM processor, much better and modern.

This technical difference brings the tablet to be more efficient netbooks that, as the classical computer can become slower and more cumbersome.

This is definitely a point in favor of portable devices touchscreen.

5) On a tablet without a keyboard is difficult to work on documents, papers or tabular calculations or any work as a writer.

Depending on the work that you do, a tablet can be perfect to show clients projects or slides, but to write and create, you need a computer.

Certainly we can say that if you already have a normal desktop PC and is not expected to work outside the office or away from home except to respond to email or chat, then back to being a cheaper tablet.

In conclusion, one can certainly say that the mini laptops are dying.

Even if they are out of fashion today, netbooks are perfect for work and, for light weight and less space, they are also more portable than notebooks from 14 or 15 inches.

Tablets are easy to handle, offer high performance, they are perfect for surfing the Internet, to write and to play on Facebook but are not suitable to work in the strict sense of the word.
